Sometimes you have to build a bridge.

Many decisions in life call for us to step out into the unknown in order to get where we want to go.  If a healthier lifestyle is unknown to you, it might seem impossible, or even a little scary.  So don’t look at your goal as something unfathomable. Take small steps everyday, build your bridge to success.  This is your journey and no one else’s.

Here are 5 small lifestyle changes that will lay the foundation for your bridge:

  1. Drink more water– You have heard it a million times, but water is your life source, and it will help you to feel fuller longer.  Your body will thank you for staying hydrated.
  2. Limit sodas and fruit juice– A can of coke contains 39g of sugar, a double Big Gulp contains 186g of sugar, and  a 160z bottle of apple juice has 52g of sugar.  Sugar in those amounts cannot be metabolized properly and can cause a number of health problems.
  3. Eat more fruit and vegetables– Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and minerals that our body needs to function. Plus they will help to fill you up
  4. Eat breakfast– Get a jumpstart on that metabolism in the morning.
  5. Read Labels– Labels are there for a reason.  They give us the opportunity to make informed decisions about our diets.  It is so easy to ignore them…ignorance is bliss, right.

There are many ways to take the first step. Design and build your own bridge.  Then take it a step at a time.  The building material may change along the way, but who cares as long as you get to the other side.
